On May 5th, the publication day of The Narcissism of Small Differences, we had a special Facebook Live event to commemorate the occasion. Live from my study in Ferndale, Michigan, I did a reading from the book with musical accompaniment by Eminem collaborator Luis Resto, a live Q&A and a virtual book table from local indie bookstore Book Beat. The viewer response far exceeded all expectations with 500 live viewers and over 1800 total views of the video. By far, my biggest live book audience.  You can watch the video right here. 

I had a fantastic conversation with April Baer of Michigan Public Radio about The Narcissism of Small Differences, the difficulties of publicizing a new novel during Covid-19, why the traditional book tour may be dead, and the live book launch I did on Facebook. 

I was interviewed by daily fuel, a website intended to inspire younger people with insights about work, life, career, creativity, entrepreneurship and more. These videos examine how and why I became a writer.

I was thrilled to talk to Koop Kooper of the Cocktail Nation podcast about all the tiki and urban exploration in TNOSD. We had a great chat. Note: at the beginning of the show, he does refer to my story collection The Lost Tiki Palaces of Detroit as my new book. Honest mistake since they both have tiki in them. Anyway, it's a fun listen and filled with lots of cool exotica, lounge and jazz music. My segment is about 9 minutes in.

I got a chance to talk to Sven Gustafson at the Daily Detroit podcast not long ago. As always, it was great talking with him. We discussed The Narcissism of Small Differences, the cruelties and indignities of trying to get a novel published, why I could never have survived the Iowa Writers Workshop, as well as "Retro Groove," my weekly radio show on Ferndale Community Radio. 

In 2013, I was honored to become a Kresge Literary Arts Fellow. This video is about the process of writing Second Hand, The Leisure Seeker, and how memory, objects of the past, and my father's photography have influenced and informed my work.
